Samsung 和 Visa 公佈 Samsung 旗下最新推出的 Galaxy S III 成為 Samsung 2012奧運手機，雙方亦會合作為限定版的 Galaxy S III 加入 Visa payWave 電子付款功能。
Samsung Electronics and Visa today announced that the Samsung GALAXY S III, the latest in smartphone innovation, will be Samsung’s Olympic Games Phone during the London 2012 Games.
不公開發售
這批具有 Visa payWave 功能的限定版 Galaxy S III 不會公開發售，只會提供給 Samsung 和 Visa 讚助的運動員和指定人仕。在倫敦奧運期間，用家就可以在超過 140,000 銷售點以這部具 payWave 功能的手機進行付款。
A limited edition showcase device enabled with Visa’s mobile payment application, Visa payWave, will be available for Samsung and Visa sponsored athletes and trialists, making it possible to buy merchandise with a wave of the device at thousands of retail locations throughout London.

By the time of the Olympic Games there will be more than 140,000 contactless terminals around the UK. From the moment visitors land at Heathrow they will be immersed in a contactless payment experience with everything from taxis, to retail outlets, to the Olympic Park itself.
其實，Galaxy S III 本身就具有 NFC，至於將來一般版本的 GS3 會否也加入 Visa payWave 功能就未有透露。
NFC 這個短距離通訊，已逐漸成為智能手機的標準配置，但在運用上仍然非常有限，最常見也只是手機跟手機的傳輸。在美國，Google Wallets 還在努力推廣，在其他國家地方要看到 Google Wallets 仍是遙不可及。另一個近期較常見的推廣，可說是 Sony 的 Xperia SmartTags 了。在香港，手機的 NFC 還有一個功用就是查看八達通的餘額。
