Google 又有新科技，今次是跟健康有關的。
糖尿病是其中一個全球性的慢性疾病，全球有超過三億個糖尿病患者。病患者要不斷監察體內的血糖指數，因為血糖指數會因進食, 運動等而不斷變化。病患者一般都要靠血糖機作檢測，就是要 “拮手指”。
近年，科學家開始研究以不同的體液量度血糖指數，例如淚水。Google[x] 就依據這方向，開發一個 Smart Contact Lens，內置感應可每秒量度血糖指數。
We’re now testing a smart contact lens that’s built to measure glucose levels in tears using a tiny wireless chip and miniaturized glucose sensor that are embedded between two layers of soft contact lens material. We’re testing prototypes that can generate a reading once per second.
Smart Contact Lens 還可加上微形 LED 燈，當血糖超越安全水平就可作提示。
we’re exploring integrating tiny LED lights that could light up to indicate that glucose levels have crossed above or below certain thresholds.
當然這個 Smart Contact Lens 還是開發階段，不過 Google 已跟美國 FDA 相討，並期望可引入更多合作伙伴一同開發。
這個科技真係造福人群，因為量度血糖對於病患者是一件十分麻煩的事情。又想想未來科技，將來身體上可能會有更多植入/配戴微型裝置，可量度/監察身體狀況。今天大家可能配帶運動手帶，在做運動時量度心跳等，將來運動手帶的功能，或者會隱藏在一些身體上的裝置內。
