Samsung Galaxy S5 到底有無指紋掃描功能呢？SamMobile 由內部人仕獲得的資料，確認 Galaxy S5 將會配置指紋掃描功能，並會將指紋掃描設在 Home Button 上，而不是之前流傳設在屏幕。
用指紋作捷徑操控, 隱藏資料, 網站登入
SamMobile 亦進一步講解 S5 內指紋掃描的功用。除了用作手機解鎖外，指紋掃紋亦會用在 Galaxy S5 操控, 資料保存, 登入等功能。
Galaxy S5 最多可登記八隻手指的指紋，不同指紋可指定作不同的操控，例如作為啟動指定 App，而其中一隻必需用作手機解鎖。

Galaxy S5 會新增一個 Personal Folder 和 Private Mode，可以用作收藏個人 Apps, Widgets, 檔案內容等。用家可以透過特定手指的指紋開啟這個 Personal Folder 和 Private Mode，讀取內裏的內容。
A new Personal Folder and Private Mode has been developed by Samsung, where you will be able to hide personal apps, widgets, and content you want to keep private.
除了上述的功能，指紋掃描亦可用作認証 Samsung 帳戶，以及登入不同的網站，不用再輸入用戶名稱和密碼。可以說 S5 的指紋掃描不單是用作解鎖，還整合至手機的不同功能和操控。

指紋掃描會設在 Home Button 上，用家要平放手指，再在 Home Button 上慢慢掃過以作掃描。由於掃描器較敏感，所以手指要保持乾爽，而掃描後的指紋影像亦會在屏幕上顯示。
既然指紋掃描設在 Home Button，也就是 Galaxy S5 仍會保留使用實體按鍵。
