Google 宣佈所有由 Gmail Server 進出的電郵，會全部經由加密的 HTTPS 連線。這樣可大大提升電郵保安程度，避免其他人從中讀取電郵內容。
Today’s change means that no one can listen in on your messages as they go back and forth between you and Gmail’s servers—no matter if you’re using public WiFi or logging in from your computer, phone or tablet.
Gmail 在第一天推出時已可支援 HTTPS 連線，到了 2010 年 HTTPS 連線成為預設選擇，而今天起所有 Gmail 連線都會採用 HTTPS，就算是在 Google 內部 data center 的資料轉移，亦會經過加密才進行。這樣就可確保 Gmail 在發送接收，以至 Google 內部資料轉移，都經加密保護。
當然作為用家，最好也採用 2-step verification ，進一步加強保護帳戶。
