VLC Player 是一個很好用的媒體播放器，但 Android 版本已有超過一年時間沒有更新，對上一個版本是 v2.0，最新終於推出了 v2.5，加入了大量的改進。
首先，新版本支援 360度影片播放。用家可以在畫面上掃撥轉動不同的視角，不過還未支援 Cardboard/VR Mode。
第二是在 Android Oreo 系統內支援 Picture-in-Picture 功能，只要在播放期間在 Video Advanced Options 內啟用就可以。
界面亦有改進，跟隨 Material Designs 風格，界面亦可顯示更多的項目。
另外，還有其他的改進，例如搜尋功能改為兩部份，現有的搜尋只在 Currect List 進行過濾篩選，而 Global Search 就可以在 Media Library 內進行。還有整合了 DayNight Mode, Equalizer Custom Presets, 可儲存回復 Podcasts 播放位置, Android Auto 等。
