現在市場上的串流影片服務都是以月費或按影片收費，在 Google Play Movies 則是以購買或租借影片形式，但 Google 計劃推出新的形式，附設廣告的免費電影。
XDA 網站從拆解 Google Play Movies App 內找到一些字串端倪，包括有 “Free with ads”, “Hundreds of movies, just a few ads”, “Watch free with ads”。

從這些字串可以得知，Google Play Movies 將會推出逾百部電影，可以讓用家免費觀賞但就附以廣告。不過，現在仍未知 Google Play Movies 何時會推出這種看廣告的免費電影。估計形式應該類似 Youtube 影片，在播放前會有廣告，而播放中途亦可能會有廣告。
大家會否接受這種新形式 “附有廣告的免費電影” 呢？相信熱愛電影的觀眾未必太受落，但對於一些不太肯花錢的用家，這個可能十分有吸引力呢。
