Samsung Galaxy S5 到底有无指纹扫描功能呢？SamMobile 由内部人仕获得的资料，确认 Galaxy S5 将会配置指纹扫描功能，并会将指纹扫描设在 Home Button 上，而不是之前流传设在屏幕。
用指纹作捷径操控, 隐藏资料, 网站登入
SamMobile 亦进一步讲解 S5 内指纹扫描的功用。除了用作手机解锁外，指纹扫纹亦会用在 Galaxy S5 操控, 资料保存, 登入等功能。
Galaxy S5 最多可登记八只手指的指纹，不同指纹可指定作不同的操控，例如作为启动指定 App，而其中一只必需用作手机解锁。

Galaxy S5 会新增一个 Personal Folder 和 Private Mode，可以用作收藏个人 Apps, Widgets, 档案内容等。用家可以透过特定手指的指纹开启这个 Personal Folder 和 Private Mode，读取内里的内容。
A new Personal Folder and Private Mode has been developed by Samsung, where you will be able to hide personal apps, widgets, and content you want to keep private.
除了上述的功能，指纹扫描亦可用作认証 Samsung 帐户，以及登入不同的网站，不用再输入用户名称和密码。可以说 S5 的指纹扫描不单是用作解锁，还整合至手机的不同功能和操控。

指纹扫描会设在 Home Button 上，用家要平放手指，再在 Home Button 上慢慢扫过以作扫描。由于扫描器较敏感，所以手指要保持干爽，而扫描后的指纹影像亦会在屏幕上显示。
既然指纹扫描设在 Home Button，也就是 Galaxy S5 仍会保留使用实体按键。
