Google 在 2013年推出了 Chromecast，之后推出了不同的改进版本，到了 2020年9月更推出了 Chromecast with Google TV，让装置不再限于串流媒流，而是有自己的系统可安装不同 娱乐媒体 Apps 使用。
最新就有消息指 Google 正在开发新一代的 Chromecast with Google TV。9to5Google 网站获取的文件得知，Google 正在研发一个采用 Android 系统新的硬件装置，代号为 Boreal。这个 Boreal 亦在其他 Android 的源程式码中找到，当中亦是关乎 Google TV Chromecast 软件程式的，而现时 Chromecast with Google TV 代号 Sabrina 亦在相同位置中出现。由此可见，Boreal 是跟 Sabrina 相关并属于相同系列，Boreal 应该就是 新一代的 Chromecast with Google TV。
不过现时只有Boreal名字，未见有其他的规格资料消息。而按过往 Google 的做法，新硬件好大机会要等待至第三季才推出呢，所以应该还有一些时间才会有更多消息流出。
