CyanogenMod 是 Android 最大型和受歡迎的 Custom ROM，十分成功。但成名後，就開始遇到麻煩。
在 2009 剛開始時，CyanogenMod 只是一個小型的 Custom ROM，當時所有的 Builds 都只是寄存在創始人 Steve Kondik 的電腦上。當時 cyanogenmod.com 這個網址，就是由一個第三者購入擁有，並捐贈予 CM 團隊使用。
捐贈網址出事
這個捐贈網址一直都相安無事，但最近情況出現了變化。過去一星期，這個網址擁有人第三者冒認 Steve Kondik 跟不同的網站接冶希望達成不同的協議。CyanogenMod 團隊得悉後跟這些網站瞭解，並跟這個擁有人聯絡希望可以將 CyanogenMod.com 的擁有權順利移交，但這個人仕郤開價 US$10,000，這個數字 CyanogenMod 團隊當然不可能負擔。
在往後的聯絡中，這個 網址擁有人更變臉，聲稱會將 CyanogenMod.com 的網址相關設定改掉，使網站消失。
“Hi, so you think by removing all my access across the infrastructure was going to be a great idea? We had a chat yesterday, you’ve decided to end this bitter. How about I just change the DNS entries right now. CM will practically go down.”
而今天 CyanogenMod.com 就開始出事，CyanogenMod.com 被一個空白網頁取代，內裏的內容在互聯網消失。而所有 @cyanogenmod.com 的電郵亦被轉至 CyanogenMod 團隊不能控制的伺服器。
Today, it happened: all of our records were deleted, and cyanogenmod.com is slowly expiring out of the Internet and being replaced by blank pages and non-existing sites. @cyanogenmod.com e-mail is now being directed to a mailserver completely out of our control, too.
面對這情況，CyanogenMod 團隊正向有關機構 ICANN 爭取取回網址，亦將所有網站內容轉移至 CyanogenMod.org。而 CM ROM 開發亦會繼續，並不受影響。
