自从 Google 宣布收购 Motorola 的手机业务后，无论厂商以至用家都想 Motorola 将会在 Android 系统得到一定的优势。Google在公布收购时，亦强调 Motorola 手机业务虽然成为 Google 的子公司，但仍会独立运作。
Google 的 Eric Schmidt 在最近一次访问中，再次强调 Motorola 会独立运作，并不会影响 Android 的开放性。而 Google 亦不会改变现有的运作方式。
In general, with all of our partners, we told them that the Motorola deal will close and we will run it sufficiently and independently, that it will not violate the openness of Android…We’re not going to change in any material way the way we operate.
若果 Google 真的让 Motorola 如过往般运作，保持其独立性，那么 Google 这次收购的目的就明显不过。就是藉收购以取得 Motorola 拥有的大量专利以强化专利战的筹码，而不是进军硬件业务。
但从用家角度，则希望两家公司可以多一点合作，推出更多更优质的手机！而且大家都对亲生仔手机有多点期望呢！
