根据华尔街日报的报道，Google 或会跟多达五个厂商合作，研发和推出下一代 Nexus系列的手机和平板，并透过自家的渠道销售。
Google will work with as many as five manufacturers at a time to create a portfolio of “Nexus” lead devices that include smartphones and tablets
即是话下一代的 Nexus 手机，可能不止一部。不同的厂商也会推出 Nexus 手机，Google 就会透过自家的 Play Store 出售手机 (之前 Google 就在 Play Store 销售减价的 Galaxy Nexus 呢)。
用Jelly Bean, 十一月尾开售
另外，报道亦提到新一代 Nexus 会运行 Android 新版本 Jelly Bean，并预期会在感恩节推出市场(感恩节就是十一月尾呢)。

做法有利各个厂商
过往的 Nexus 手机都是由单一厂商 (HTC 或 Samsung) 负责。由于 Nexus 系列手机都会采用最新的 Android 版本，负责生产的厂商会较有优势，其他厂商推出采用新 Android 版本的手机在时间上会有落差。最终，亦导致各个厂商在 Android 系统升级上有更大的时间差距。
一次过跟多家厂商合作，他们就可以在最早时间获得 Android 新版本的资料，更有利用新手机的推出和旧版本升级！
