Facebook for Android 推出了新版本 v1.9.7。除了一些错误修正外，亦改善了保安, 加快程式登入和导览速度, 并支援前置相机等。
另外，比较特别是新版本只支援 Android 2.2 或以上的装置，相信 Facebook 开始摆脱旧 Android 版本 (2.0, 2.1等) 的枷锁。不用兼顾旧版本方面的限制，相信有助 Facebook for Android 的开发。
旧 Android 版本 (2.1 或以下) 用家还是可继续使用 Facebook，只是不可以升级。
