有韩国媒体报道，Samsung 计划在旗下推出的配件 (充电器, 电池, Smart Cover 保护套) 加入 ID 芯片，当手机装置使用配件时需先验証，若没有 Samsung 的 ID 芯片，配件的功能就不能使用，例如无线充电。
If consumers use general products, not authentic accessories, for Samsung Electronics’ smartphones, they will not be able to use such functions as wireless charging and terminating or originating calls with the cover closed.
报道指 Samsung 以 Note 3 作试行，在官方推出的配件中会加入 ID 芯片。消息更指 Samsung 已将 ID 芯片分发至配件生产线，准备加装至配件内。
Samsung Electronics installed the authenticity recognition chip in the accessories for Galaxy Note 3 so that some functions may not be implemented if the accessories are inauthentic.
用家选择减少
这个做法好处是，不会因一些不合规格的非原厂配件，影响手机装置。例如劣质电池或充电器, 导致坏机甚至着火爆炸。但对用家来说，就多了一大限制，只能买 Samsung 配件。当然 Samsung 亦可以授权其他厂商生产附有 ID 芯片的配件，但整体而言，可以选择的配件数量一定大幅减少，而价格亦会较贵。
这个传言 Samsung 还未有回应，留待看往后的发展。
