Google 为应对手机保安，所以会为 Android 系统推出 Monthly Security Update，让手机装置可适时修补安全漏洞。各个手机厂商就可以依据 Google 的 Monthly Security Update，为手机装置推送更新。
对于用家来说，手机的安全更新当然是越快越好，而很多厂商都会按月推出 Security Update。不过 Motorola 就表示他们不会推送 Monthly Security Update，反而依据 OS 更新又或以 Scheduled Maintenance Release 形式发送。
只靠 OS Upgrade, Maintenance Release
外国科技网站 Ars Technica 就 Moto Z 和 Moto G4 更新事宜向 Motorola 方面查询，得到 Motorola 回复。Motorola 指出明白用家对于手机安全更新的重视，他们亦希望可尽快推送安全更新。但由于需要进行测试和核证，所以难以为旗下装置按月推送安全更新。反而透过 OS 更新又或 Maintenance Release 形式更有效率。
Motorola understands that keeping phones up to date with Android security patches is important to our customers. We strive to push security patches as quickly as possible. However, because of the amount of testing and approvals that are necessary to deploy them, it’s difficult to do this on a monthly basis for all our devices. It is often most efficient for us to bundle security updates in a scheduled Maintenance Release (MR) or OS upgrade.
笔者意见就是，基于 Motorola 这个做法，可以的话不要购买 Motorola 手机。其他厂商也可以提供 Monthly Update，为何 Motorola 不可以呢？其实其他厂商方都不是紧贴 Google 方面推出，可能会迟了大半个月，但仍会是每月推出安全修正，对用家手机装置也有个保障。
再者 Motorola 手机都是 Stock Android 为主，甚少改动，在系统软件上的兼容问题应较其他厂商少，要测试时间也会较少。Motorola 居然说 “difficult to do this on a monthly basis”，给人的感觉是不愿投放资源为客户提供售后服务。
